    Keith is the founding Director of Remote Safety Solutions and has a diverse background, with an adventure background derived from working as a guide in Australia and overseas he has dealt with a range of remote incidents within his own adventures. Keith's emergency management and first aid skills are derived from working as Ski Patroller and Rescue Air Crewman for a number of rescue and emergency services. When Keiths not in the office he's on the road traveling with his team to some of Australias most remote and isolated communities delivering a range of courses to better prepare people for any unforeseen incidents they may encounter.
HLTAID003 Provide First Aid – Construction Industry Course

Remote Safety Solutions Provide First Aid Industry Course has been contextualised for those who work in the construction industry, perfect for builders, plumbers, electricians just to name a few trades.

Course details 

This course is designed to prepare and train the learner for any unforeseen accident that may occur on site which requires staff to administer first aid and emergency care until appropriate emergency services arrive. Learners who undertake this course will be exposed to realistic scenarios created to aid in the delivery of the required knowledge and enable them to put the skills into practice.

By the end of this course learners will be able to display the following;

  • Recognise an emergency situation
  • Identify, assess and manage immediate hazards to health and safety of self and others
  • Assess the casualty and recognise the need for first aid response
  • Assess the situation and seek assistance from emergency response services
  • Deploy resources to appropriate locations as required in line with workplace procedures
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines
  • Provide first aid in accordance with established first aid principles
  • Provide first aid in accordance with established first aid principles
  • Display respectful behaviour towards casualty
  • Obtain consent from casualty where possible
  • Use available resources and equipment to make the casualty as comfortable as possible
  • Operate first aid equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions
  • Monitor the casualty’s condition and respond in accordance with first aid principles
  • Identify available resources required and establish communication links with appropriate personnel, emergency management services and medical assistance as appropriate
  • Deploy correct amount of required resources to appropriate locations in an effective manner to ensure timely arrival
  • Document the provision of resources and recommend modifications as required
  • Monitor the condition of casualties in accordance with first aid principles and workplace procedures
  • Coordinate evacuation of casualties according to relevant evacuation procedures
  • Arrange support services for personnel involved in the incident in accordance with relevant principles and procedures
  • Accurately convey incident details to emergency response services
  • Report details of incident in line with organisational policies
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information in line with statutory and/or organisational policies
  • Recognise the possible psychological impacts on self and other rescuers involved in critical incidents
  • Participate in debriefing to address individual needs
  • Evaluate management of the incident and develop an action plan in consultation with relevant parties
  • Review contingency planning to identify and select alternative management principles and procedures as required

Assessment

Students will undergo:

  • 50 question multiple choice
  • CPR practical test
  • first aid scenarios

  • Warm/appropriate clothing to be outside. Please DO NOT bring your best work clothes, You will be outside on the ground and stage makeup will be used which can stain.
